It's the call we all wait for.
"I saw your listing, at 123 Main Street and would like some
more information about it. Please call me at fawtwonineohfawehto."
Now. I do understand - really. It's your phone number, you've repeated it at least a thousand times and you know it really well. But, I have no idea who you are. You haven't left your name. My caller ID is coming up "Name Unknown" and your phone number, pronounced as a single word, was spoken at the speed of light.
Usually, after playing back the message six or seven times, I can discern all the numbers. However, it would be a lot easier if you just slowed down, when leaving your phone number.
I wonder how many calls have not been returned, simply because the phone number could not be deciphered.
Next time you leave your number, pretend you are speaking to someone who has just learned the language. Slow down and enunciate! You just may get that call-back.
Slow down...enunciate...and repeat that phone number, please!

Don- It always amazes me. The caller is so careful to leave a crystal clear message and then flies through the phone number.
Were you listening to MY voicemail? LOL. I actually had to tell one of my assistants this the other day after hearing her w5o247r924jrf our phone # on a voicemail. I said, "please say our # twice and really slow" I'd rather hear it so slow you wonder what is wrong with the person than so fast you can't decifer it.
How about the ones who repeat their number twice very clearly and when you call it is a non-working number or the wrong number. I had great fun with my mortgage broker today who pre-qualified a cutomer who gave us all the same, but wrong, contact number to call them back at. Now we have to wait for them to call us to ask why we didn't call them... :)
Susan- You're not alone. What really surprises me, is how many agents haven't learned to slow down, when leaving their number.
Carolyn- I sometimes get company internet leads. More than once, they've left a phone number, with one number inverted. Typo? or they just don't want to be called?
This is so true! Its happened enough times to be really annoying! Even my first A/R call..........and that happened! I thought it was a prank, I mean it seams bizarre in this day and age that people wouldn't do that.......Or they leave you a long detailed message and NO phone number!
Liz- I do my best to track down someone's phone number, but if they don't want to be called, what's the point?
